catching up on pictures!

I have had this post saved but not published for awhile. Things are totally slipping away from me during this "baby time". I feel like I might be getting it together and then I realize that I have missed the boat. This goes away, right?

Here are some great pictures of my mom and the baby. My mom spent the entire week of the birth with us...THANK YOU, MOM! We would surely have been forced to return the baby to the hospital if it hadn't been for her help. :-)
Camy Sue and Nana were napping buddies, probably because my mom took her from 4am to 7am each morning.....who wouldn't need a nap after that?!

Dad and Judy visit

When I went into labor, my mom had arrived the night before so she stayed the entire first week of Campbell's life. Thank GOD....I was less than prepared for how cruddy I felt that first week home and we were unprepared for how much crying a baby can do before you figure out to suck her boogers out of her nose (that bulb syringe was a total mystery until that fateful night.). Anyway, my mom was here and then about 10 days later, my dad came out with my step mom Judy. It has been great to have so much family willing to help us. We have been overwhelmed with how helpful it has been to have family around.

Drum ROLL PLEASE........the moment we waited weeks for finally arrived. Jay held the baby! My sister's boyfriend (aka one of the absolute most awesome people I know) was hesitant to hold the baby, but we finally broke down his resolve after 3 weeks. :-)

Our friends Ian and Jenn Mendez came over for a visit with Campbell. They both look like pros, don't they?

Back to Sleep

I just read a friend's blog (Hi EVE!) and had to comment on the "sleeping on the back issue". We have been blessed with a baby that sleeps, BUT she would sleep for 6 hours straight if we let her sleep on her stomach instead of the 3 hours we get on her back. I wish that I could do it but I am still a new mother and super paranoid about stuff. She sleeps on her stomach during the day when I am up and around...and she sleeps on her back at night. Once she can roll over and hold up her head for longer periods of time, I am going to put her on her stomach to sleep and cross my fingers for a long long rest.

Speaking of holding her head up....here is a story that I think gives some insight into how much I love this little lady. We were laying on the couch, Camy Sue on my stomach staring up at my face, and I moved her so she couldn't see my face anymore. She immediately throws her head back and turns to face me again. I immediately BURST INTO TEARS. Not even small tears, gigantic crocodile tears. It was amazing.....and she got copious praise for being such a big girl. :-). Kyle looked a little worried that I was losing it. He agreed that it was amazing and she is awesome but completely sans waterworks. Ahhh---the joys of high oxytocin levels.

First Trip to the Pediatrician

On Tuesday May 5th, we went to our first pediatrician's appointment. I managed to give the nurse my birthday and my name before I realized that the appt was for our daughter....details, details. Camy Sue is doing really well. She was quiet until we stripped her naked for the weigh in (I don't like the weighing in part either...maybe this is genetic). Despite my fear that she was starving to death, she is gaining weight and growing like a weed. Kyle and I both found it a little odd that she was completely fine with having her rectal temperature taken but freaked out when they measured her head....doesn't that seem a little weird? No vaccinations this time, but our July appointment will include 5 vaccinations. At least they do 3 of them at the same time, so there are only 3 shots. Poor kid is going to be "displeased" at best.
